Keeping up with the Syrian refugees’ situation, I was reading some newspapers and I found this piece of news.

The controversial republican candidate for President Donald Trump says that if he wins the presidential elections, he will send all the Syrian refugees back home. Dear Mr. Trump, let me tell you with all my respect that these people HAVE NO HOME!!!. That is why they are looking for a new place to live. According to Mr. Trump, Syrian people are a potential danger for the States since some of them do not have identification. I agree it is difficult to receive thousands of people who are looking for a better situation, but being a leading world power like the U.S I strongly believe that there is something to be done. If the U.S can´t welcome the Syrian refugees, then there must be something to be done to stop the war so as to allow these people to go back to their homeland.

What this declaration made me understand is that some human selfishness has no end. I mean, this country being one of the most powerful and rich in the world they could help these desperate people. There are some countries from the third world-as they call us- that have welcomed many Syrian families such as Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. These South American countries are neither the richest nor the most powerful but they share what they have despite it is not that much. That is to say that these countries’ economy isn´t as thriving as those of the first world.  Sometimes the ones that have less are the ones who share the most. I think it will be better if the p powerful nations used their power to help and not to destroy.

  1. He is a joke!!! I can't agree with you more. It is unbuildable that such an important and successful business man can think in that way. And what is worst how he can say something like that when he is running to presidency. Stupidity has no limit. he is not someone I will spend my time listening to.

  2. Analia, I agree with Claudia - Trump´s words seem a joke!!! I can´t believe how politics, at times, make ridiculous comments just to win votes. Undoubtedly, he is trying to convince people about his political party by doing this kind of announcements. The fact is that he did not gain respect, on the contrary, he was highly criticized for community. I think it is high time he used his power to help those in need, like the Syrians who do not have a place to live.

  3. Ana, this post describes what you (and I) believe in an excellent manner! Donald Trump is the most clear example of how not to rule a country. I can't believe that first: He's running for president; and second: People are rooting for him and are willing to vote him. UNBELIEVABLE! Syrian People are still dying all around us and not many people are taking action and helping them. Into what monster this society has become? We are the worst! Following Aylan's death, a few days ago I saw also that another girl was photographed being carried away lifeless in the middle of the water. We must stop this situation at all costs!
And returning to Trump's statement, I don't really believe he is going to get much further with his current attitude. I can't accept a president for any country that is as ruthless as he is. Maybe he needs to think about what one of his predecesors said "No man is good enough to govern another man without the other's consent". I think Abraham Linconl was right when he expressed his thoughts that time. Trump is not going to govern correctly; people need to become aware of who they are voting for.

  4. Ana! WOW! I can´t believe this man has said something like that. First of all, I don´t understand the purpose of saying such a thing... if he said that to win votes, well we are in front of a man who has the heart of stone then. Didn´t he see how much Syrian refugees were and still are suffering? didn´t he read about Aylan Kurdi? isn´t it his business? I think the problem of the refugees should care to everyone no matter how important the person is. But if Donald´s intention is to be the future president of the USA, he MUST give an example and the best way to do so is by being soft with his words, by changing his perspective. What is even worst is that there are thousand and thousand of people who support him. WHY??? Donald Trump, please, change your mind!

  6. You have found a good video to analyse, Ani! Honestly, that reaction the candidate had did not surprise me if we take into account that he belongs to the Republican Party. Have we forgotten that this is the party George Bush belonged to? Throughout history, this party was always characterized by representing the most nauseating right-wing in the United States.
Republican candidates do not hesitate if they have to express rejection to Afroamerican people or Latin immigrants. They do not stammer if they have to talk about economy being managed by multinational corporations which exploit employees without taking care of their basic rights.
Unfortunately, people who think like that not only exist in the North hemisphere. You can take a look at the candidates that can be chosen next week in Argentina and you will find many of those!
